It’s funny, how language can mean so many different things to people in time. Bodies conglomerate together through mutual backgrounds, personalities, interests and sports of sorts, and, together, they create their own form of language. When a new generous body enters the circle, they must learn to adapt in a new environment, for language games are at work here, and one must immerse oneself deep in the language in order to understand the substance of what is being said.

Good Food, Good Wine

4/3/2020

The long-awaited 4th cookery book by Hayda Loral, released in August 2007, following on from (in reverse order) How To Be A Holistic Hostess (August 2006), Wining & Dining (2005) and Lunch With Hayda (2004).

The philosophy of Good Food, Good Wine is a re-affirmation of the finer things in life, such as strawberries, chocolate and wine. The general theme is ‘indulgence food’ including such treats as rosewater brulée (from Hayda's bathwater), crème stroulard, crème de la crème, strawberry slurprise, glazed almond tart-tatain, calvados coulis (lamp’s bell concept), blamangerie and a rare breed of bio-friendly ‘delicate’ yoghurt.

Here is an extract from the preface to the 1st edition.
Well, here we are again at the end of summer. The summer fruits are almost ripened and the flowers are in full bloom. How wonderful. It has been a while since I last wrote to you. Not much has happened in the last year. I published the long-awaited sequel to my autobiography, Time Wanderer, in the early half of this year. My darling children are growing up fruitfully, and I am sowing the seeds of their compassion. Also, you may notice that my hair is a lot shorter. I decided that it was a long time coming, but I also feel that this year is a time to delve back to my roots, and I think that this is my most natural style. It may symbolize for you the reflection towards my maturity – the elegance and restraint towards my more modest side. Long gone is the bulk of history that was falling around my shoulders, and the weighty woefulness associated with it. This is both a break from my past, but also a reflection in the looking glass of life towards the future, now that I am approaching mid-thirties. Touch Time Wanderer to receive more hints, touch above me to repeat your last hint.
I reveal more…
In times of such reflection and revitalization, we all need to rediscover those little things that make life worth living. What do you like? I like strawberries in cream, I like cherry bombs that float delicately on the crest of the waves, I like licking chocolate off my fingers or sucking raspberries off each of my little fingers and thumb. YumYum. Slosh it in with a good dose of wine and drink to your health. Lardy-dar! That is the life for me. A rosewater bubble bath. A boudoir breakfast. The latest gloss from La Sante Elle magazine (The Health She). Then there are those other times when good friends, good food and a great atmosphere make you shine.
But for those of you who might be thinking ‘well, what if I get fat?’ Well, let me tell you this. Those good things in life must be taken in moderation, otherwise, why would I be calling them the good things in life? This book is for those heavy duty times when we all need to indulge ourselves, once in a while, perhaps with a hearty cup-of-something warm and a blankety-blank to convince me that I am loveable again. Whatever your need, I hope this book will enhance those finer aspects.
Remember, the heartiest food and the choiciest wine can brighten up any dull, drizzly day, so relax, and enjoy.
